Summary of events:

The events of September 11, 2001 were the worst terrorist attacks in United States history." 2,753 victims died in the World Trade Center attacks, and another 184 died in the Pentagon.  The nearly 3,000 victims included nationals of over 70 different countries" (Jaeger 99-121).
September 11, 2001 was a day that has changed life for America.  Although there are countless conspiracy theories regarding the causes and events of 9-11, it is generally accepted that an Osama Bin Laden led al Queda orchestrated the terrorist events that unfolded in 2001.  On September 11th, nineteen terrorists affiliated with al Qaeda boarded several domestic commercial airliners in the United States. The suspected hijackers were from Saudi Arabia (fifteen hijackers), United Arab Emirates (two hijackers), Lebanon (one hijacker) and Egypt (one hijacker).  Having previously received pilot training, the terrorists used box-cutters to hijack planes and took control of the cockpits.  The airplanes themselves were then used as weapons of mass destruction by being deliberately flown into civilian targets in the United States.  Two aircraft crashed into World Trade Center towers 1 and 2 in New York, a third plane was flown into the pentagon, and a final plane crashed in Pennsylvania(its target was believed to be the White House).

The events of 9-11 changed New York City's Skyline forever.
